Tavia Cowie, BA, RMT

Tavia has had a passion for massage therapy since she was a young woman. She has been interested in helping people through the childbearing years with the best health and wellness they can possibly achieve.
After graduating from The University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, she decided to follow her passion and obtain a Diploma in Massage Therapy from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria, BC. She holds active status with the CMTBC, RMTBC and, in the past, has been a member of the Canadian Sport Massage Therapy Association (CSMTA). She has worked in the field of Massage Therapy since 2008, beginning as a clinic office manager before starting her diploma, and moving on to Spa Practitioner while awaiting her board examinations. After successful completion of her board exams, she became a mother to her beautiful daughter. Once she began working as an RMT, she quickly decided to share her knowledge and added the role of clinic supervisor/teaching assistant at the WCCMT in Victoria. When she was pregnant with her second child, Tavia and her family made the decision to move to Nanaimo, and she has been able to find a wonderful niche working with many wonderful pregnant and postpartum patient.
Tavia is passionate about many different branches of Registered Massage Therapy; however, she is most interested in women's health including pre- and post-natal care. She is also interested in sport massage, rehabilitation and preventative massage therapy. Tavia uses a variety of modalities, including both passive and active techniques to attain the best results possible, and every treatment is tailored to the specific patient on that particular day after an assessment or check in
.
Tavia has live in the hub city since 2017, relocating from to Victoria, BC. She and her husband have two wonderful children and a happy dog (who may pop into the clinic on occasion to wag hello). She enjoys exploring and discovering Vancouver Island and has a passion outside of work for sewing, cooking, DIYing, interior design, baseball and swimming. It has always been a dream of hers to have her own clinic, and the reality of Ohana Health has been such a joy to create! She cannot wait to help you achieve your health and wellness goals, and hopes you find the clinic a safe and comforting space.
